Company Overview
Over three decades ago, Robin Nodland and Carol Studenmund decided that instead of using technology as a way to do less, they were going to use it as a way to do more. In 1987, they founded LNS. Now Catherine Alley Teach has joined our team, and our best got better.
Robin Nodland is a past president of the Oregon Court Reporting Association (OCRA). She has chaired several OCRA committees, including Annual Convention Committee, Spring Convention Committee, Seminar Committee, Public Relations Committee, and Nominating Committee. In 2016 Robin was honored by OCRA with the William W. Tremaine Distinguished Service Award. She also served on the State Court Administrator’s Certified Shorthand Reporters Advisory Committee for over a decade.
Robin is a longtime member of the Society for the Technological Advancement of Reporting and has served on the National Court Reporters Association Technology Committee since 2011. In that capacity, she has been leading the industry in seeking out reliable, intuitive technological solutions that make litigation easier, not more complicated.
Catherine Alley Teach, RPR, CRI, three-time president of OCRA and founder of Teach Reporting-Moore & Henderson, joined LNS November 1, 2014. Catherine brings with her over three decades of industry leadership.
In 2015 the National Court Reporters Association named Robin Nodland and Carol Studenmund as Fellows of the Academy of Professional Reporters. It was the first time in NCRA’s history that two owners of a firm were named Fellows in the same year. Robin and Carol are both Certified Realtime Reporters and are two of only a handful of Oregon reporters to hold the title of Registered Diplomate Reporter, the highest certification available.
At LNS, we employ professionals certified not only in Oregon, but also in Washington and California, and our work is one hundred percent steno machine. Our staff reporters are the best in the business, averaging over fifteen years’ experience in the field. Their extensive litigation experience includes:

Sustainability
LNS Court Reporting has been in business in Portland since 1987, and keeping our community green and healthy is a priority. In 2007, LNS was among the first businesses to be certified sustainable by the City of Portland.
Although the name of that certification has changed over the years, our commitment to sustainability has not. In 2013 we achieved Gold status certification from the City of Portland Sustainabilty at Work program by meeting a list of 45 criteria for our office and business practices—including, for instance, purchasing carbon offsets for every transcript we ship out of state.
In addition to printing all transcripts and exhibits on 30% post-consumer recycled paper, we offer a number of sustainable transcript options to our clients.
Sustainable transcript options include:
- Condensed transcript only — 75% less paper
- Digital transcripts and exhibits available 24/7 via Online Client Center
- PDF transcript or E-transcript only — word-searchable, uploads into case-management software, bundled with hyperlinked, searchable exhibit files
- Scanned exhibits on CD — paperless, word-searchable
